A Tour to my Classroom

Standard

One of the things I keep on looking forward to as the school year starts are not just the students and the new memories that I will make with them but also my classroom.

Most of the teachers find it boring and tasky to design a classroom. But I look at it in another way around. I am most fond of it than any tasks assigned during the start of the school year. As for me, the classroom can be a premonition of how the school year would be and a reflection of the students that will stay there.

With that, I make it to the point that my classroom will look as good as possible because I believe that it will attract positive vibes during the whole cycle of the school year. It also makes me look forward to enter my classroom everyday.

Every year, I have a theme for my classroom. And my theme this school year is from the chapter book that my students will use in my subject, “Ibong Adarna”. It is like my room will enhance whatever I am going to teach my students.

I started designing my classroom by painting a huge bird with colorful feathers without any plan what to do next.  The bird I painted is actually the “Ibong Adarna” which believed to have healing powers in the story. Anyways, I paint it in 4 cartolinas that I stick on each other. It actually looks big but too small for the bulletin board that I have to fill up at the back of my room which is actually equal to approximately, 13 cartolinas.

I find painting easier than cutting papers so I just paint all over the classroom. lol! My buddies...

I don’t actually plan how my classroom will look like. Everything just comes out naturally when needed. I think that’s one of the gift from God that I am most thankful of.

As I finished my first painting, I can see that it doesn’t have that appeal so, I paint a continuation of it in another set of 4 cartolina to enhance the look of the colorful feathers.  I finish the painting with blots of green and blue paint to fill the sides and gold glitters to trace the lines for it to have a magical look.

This part is actually the other set of 4 cartolinas. Good thing it blended well to the other since I use a different set of paint.

After that, there is still over 1/3 space left for my bulletin board which I don’t know what to do so I just pause and think. Randomly, I saw my plain window that’s why I decided to print some blank coloring pages of crowns with different designs. I colored it and put some studs… and it’s ready to be posted.  I use crowns because the story the will read is about a sick king and his sons that will search for his cure.

For a closer look of the crown. I also posted some Filipino quotes inside my classroom. I hope they will find it helpful.

I also printed the nicknames of my students and stick it into some foot prints as a symbol of their journey for the school year and the journey of the princes in search for the bird.

So there, I finally decided to make a collage at the left side of my bulletin board to finish it all. I made different shades of green as a background and a colorful leaves which signifies the “Piedras Platas” a magical tree in the chapter book. There I also put the core values of the school.

There are a lot more inside and outside my classroom. Those little details that make it more and more lovable. I would be hard for me to put it into words as I actually don’t know how I came up with those ideas. Creativity can’t be absolute as they say, so I think pictures and a little caption will do justice for it. Enjoy!

So that’s my humble classroom for this school year. I hope you appreciate it as much as my other colleagues did. I also felt  good when I finally finished it.

Hooray for school year 2013-2014!

Good luck to the teachers and students too…
