As a lady and more, as a freelance model I am really into flawless look during my pictorials.  It would be good to find a makeup artist that will not just conceal and contour your face then put colors on it like a canvas painting, but someone who’s committed to enhance your natural beauty without making you look like a zombie. Just 2 years ago, I discovered a makeup artist that does a certain kind of “magic” to her every client.  I am completely amazed on how she creates stunning looks with subtle hue of makeups suited in every occasion.

As a model, looking flawless on photos is a must, but sometimes our skin is not perfect, that's why one great touch from a makeup artist is needed to create what is lacking.

“I love natural beauty, and I think it’s your best look, but I think makeup as an artist is so transformative.” -Marina and the Diamonds

By the professional service name “MAJICA- Makeover by Jackie in Creative Application” (‘ma-hi-ka’ which literally means ‘magic’ in Filipino), Jackie can give magical makeovers from everyday look to high fashion, to avante garde, and of course, to her specialty, bridal makeovers!!! Whenever I see her Facebook posts about the brides she were able to take care during their special day, I can’t help but to imagine my own wedding, with her as my makeup artist.

I really love the natural looking makeup she always give to her clients. The look that is very radiant and mesmerizing. The before and after photos of her clients makes me feel astonished on how she were able to bring out the best in everyone of them.  Also, she has her own way on how to conceal those “insecurities” ladies might have. Pimples, dark spots, freckles, scars… name it! She has a solution to it.

perfect hairstyles made by MAJICA…

Her “recipe” on how to create that dazzling look on her every client might be explained by the trick she posted on her page:  “Ask how she wants to look like on her wedding day and let your future bride speak her mind. That way, not only that you know what you will do but you and your bride will meet half way as you both agree upon each other’s thought. It will definitely give an amazing result!”

I must say that listening to the clients’ wants is her key in creating satisfying results from the makeovers she did for them. Being treated as a queen is what every lady wants on her wedding day and that what her magical touch gives them.

Apart from all the affirmative opinions on her creations, she also has some achievements that will assure you on the quality of service that she can provide. Just this year she was able to made it to the Mary Kay Top 10 Makeup Artist for Dream Beautiful Contest. Also, recently, she and her team was awarded by being the Top Booker on Wedding Congress Philippines in Over-all and Make up Category, that happened last Nov 8-9, 2014 at PICC Forum Tent. I must say that they will not give and trust her with those titles for nothing, right?

Aside from the fact that Jackie is a great makeup artist which the photos and her credentials can readily testify, I myself can say that she is also a good person. I was able to meet her years ago when I won in one of the online contests she hosted. (You can read my post about that here: MAC Pink Nouveau Satin) While giving me a makeover, she made me feel comfortable by telling stories, asking my opinions, and treating me as someone that seems to be not so new to her. I really appreciate that. I think her charm is one of her assets to easily set rapport to her clients that will eventually create a good team up for a special event- where everyone can freely express their ideas and opinions to achieve the optimum quality of the craft.

The dedication she has in every craft she makes is something that no amount of money can buy. Definitely, she just not give magnificent makeovers during those wedding events but service at its finest to every bride that actually deserves it!

How Do Colors Define Beauty?

Standard

Experimenting is my game. Since I was little, I would look at the mirror creating different looks for myself. And since that, I grow up (not literally, lol!) doing and exploring things that I wouldn’t want to miss any opportunity to look different for better or sometimes, if unlucky, for worse.

Recently, I joined another open photo shoot by Mharia Photographia with the themeI Colours of Beauty III. I really love to join this shoot because I want to see myself look with playful colors.

Here were some of my selfies after the shoot. No more falsies and accessories but still with vibrant make up.

The wardrobe and make up I got are really astonishing.  It looks too much during the actual shoot but it looks really well in the photos. My make up and accessories are all provided by the studio. 🙂

Here are my edited photos:

A Model at Heart

Standard

Hi there sweeties! Sorry for being super duper mega MIA this month. I’ve been in a roller coaster ride of overlapping deadlines and personal concerns but I can’t help but to think of my pending posts (I got tons of it since I’ve been not blogging for almost a month already).

Today must be a good day because we don’t have classes. I have time to check some pile of test papers and now, because I’m already bored of that monotonous work, I am finally here blogging my heart out. Yey!

Remember my birthday theme this year? BREAKTHROUGH AT 23!

Now, I will be featuring one of the things I’ve done for myself this year. This one is close to my heart since I am really head over heels about modelling.

Anyways, I always dream of being a model. If you will ask me, what I want to be other than being a teacher that would be to be a model. But I am not a model material. I am not tall, I am not flawless and I am just an average girl.

Open photo shoots are becoming a fad now here in Manila. As if everyone can be a model and anyone can be a photographer. But there is still a difference between someone who’s treating it as an art than someone who is just merely doing it as business… as my photographer friend says.

One of my challenges for myself this year is to go and fulfill that dream even just for a day. So what I did was to book a photo shoot with iStudio88.com by Mharia Photographia‘s open photo shoot with the concept of Fashion Catalog Model.

It was August 11 when I had the shoot. At first I feel so awkward with the lights and camera plus the photographer. Good thing Irish (Maria) was there to coach me. Aside from being the owner of the studio photo and the HMUA (hair and make up artist), she is also a seasoned print ad model (if that’s how it should be called).

White was my first background. Here is an unfiltered shot from it.

We also tried experimenting with the light color. First was blue then red spot light. The output from the red spot light is here.

After Irish saw some improvements in my photos, she recommended the photographer to use black background for me. Which I think suited well. Black is my favorite color.

All the photos below are raw shots and absolutely unedited. The photographer is really good that’s why the photos turned out very well.

I am happy that after some tries I was (atleast) able to befriend the studio and strike some good pose.

After some editing here is one of the outputs that I was able to receive from Irish.

I am really fulfilled after the photo shoot. The courage to do it is very rewarding . I’m glad I did it. I never thought that challenging myself can be this awesome!

My Haul at my Favorite Store + Scrapbook Essentials Giveaway

Standard

It’s rainy season once again here in the Philippines! It’s quite hassle to go elsewhere than home. Chillin’ inside the house reminds me of my hobby way back in high school- scrapbooking.

I am always fascinated by those little colorful objects as they give life to an empty page. I still got a collection of it now a days. I always see to it that I have at least a bank of scrapbook essentials on my reach so that if I want to ease down boredom, I can just make something simple turn fab.

Just a box of assorted scrapbook essentials. I love how colorful they are!

Today, that hobby seems to be awaken as my mom requested me to drop by my favorite store- National Book Store to buy my sister a drawing book. As I stroll around it, I just can’t help but to visit the shelves of scrap book materials. I was amazed by some affordable 3D stickers I saw which made me buy 4 sets of it. Also, I saw some handmade twisted paper cords which I think something very nice for whatever I wish to design in the future. I also drop by the gift wrap section to see new designs of gift wrappers and I got a floral one for my things in school. It actually looks very summer! Then, I got 2 highlighters for my upcoming reading activity. I got neon orange and pink. (Yikes! So girly!) And lastly, the real reason why I am there, I got a drawing book for my sissy.

My mini-haul at my favorite store.

That haul can actually attest to my craziness about scrapbooking. Yes! I am still a fan of it. I design anything… from clothes to papers. Name it, I will design it. For me, it explains my personality. I am not a “plain” person, I always want things around me to have a personal touch and look fabulous.

Here are some of the things I designed years back.

Frustrated Model-Photographer

Standard

Sweeties, do you that I am inlove? Its been so many years but still I cannot fully confess my love because I am too busy and I am afraid that if I will not give time to that love, it will soon be spoiled and gone… Surely, if that happens it will be really sad for me.

So here’s my confession… I honestly love art. Yes! I’ve been loving art ever since. I’ve tried painting, designing, acting and other sorts of expressionistic art but somehow I can say that photography has that soft spot in me. I  want to believe that photography is part of my craft.

Why? I find painting so messy and tiring though I can really paint. While, I get bored with designing but I always do it during the start of the school year for my classroom. I also tried acting during my college days but the roles are always the same for me- a sexy chic, a brat girl, antagonist (hehehhe… well I guess it reflects with my personality)

Sarimanok- This is what I painted for my classroom last school year.

It has been quite sometime that I am planning to join some open photoshoots. Well, I’m eyeing to be a model (as if I’m that pretty and sexy, just for you to know, I JUST HAVE THE CONFIDENCE… heheheh) I am really frustrated to be a model but I’m small… oh! petite! I don’t really want to describe my appearance in detail so I just share to you some of my pictures. I hope you will still read my posts after seeing these. LOL!

I believed that my appearance improved a lot compared from three years ago. I took care of myself since I enter the professional world. I’m a teacher (Just sharing… I know, I don’t look like one) I’ve been having some water therapy, aero dance and soon… (I hope) pole dancing. Yes! I love exploring. I love trying new things to see what really fits to me. As of now, at the age of 22, I can say that I am still experimental.

"Beauty can always be enhanced."

“Beauty can always be enhanced.”

I’ve been trying to see what photography has that can separate it from other forms or art. As of now, I just have this little album entitled “Practice Makes Perfect” in my Facebook account that becomes the witness of my frustration of being a photographer. Note: No editing or effects has been use for the following pictures. All of those are raw shots. You may click the picture to make the image bigger.

Still Under Construction

I just had my first serious post on this blog today. So yeah! Everything seems to be just half-way done. (Forgive me for that!)

I don’t know so much about those computer terms and technicalities which made me at lost (seriously!) about blogging. I didn’t expect that this will be so hard from designing your page to arranging the lay-out by those widgets, from writing a post to editing, from learning more and more. Now, I appreciate more the bloggers out there because blogging is not just about stream of thoughts but more of a fruit of hard work, determination and service.

I want to be serious about blogging this time. I’ve been planning to have my own blog since college. Unfortunately, my shyness burned that desire to do so. And now I’m already here, why waste this chance?

So here I am and my blog. I hope you will do support me and always feel free to leave a comment for my improvement. Your opinions will always be greatly appreciated 🙂
